José Miguel is co-founder of Big Sur Ventures. Knowledgeable of European and US Markets, he has extensive international experience in starting and running businesses of diverse sizes including managing a US Nasdaq listed company ($3.5B). He has founded, co-founded and otherwise led numerous technology enabled products and services companies including LaNetro. In addition, he has M&A experience and founded and sold an M&A firm focused on technology and innovation.

José Miguel received his BSEECS and MSEE degrees from Santa Clara University in California and his MBA from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
Manuel is co-founder of Big Sur Ventures. Prior to BSV he has developed his entrepreneurial career in internet and IT. From 1994 he cofounded Cinet (B2B ISP sold to Retevisión, now ONO-Vodafone), Olé, (a Cinet spinoff and first Hispanic portal sold to Telefónica. Later known as Terra), and BellMoore Consulting (Internet & Tech integration: CRM-CMS software tools).
Manuel has founded and supported some key institutions of the Barcelona tech ecosystem: ESADE Investors and Entrepreneurs Club, ESADE BAN (Business Angels Network) and Business Angels (BA) School, Necotium BA School and Barcelona Tech City.
Manuel has also co-edited and translated the book “Venture Deals: Be Smarter Than Your Lawyer and Venture Capitalist” authored by Brad Feld & Jason Mendelson.
Manuel holds a BS in law and MBA from ESADE. He speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian.
João is the co- founder Diligence Capital, a privately held Venture Capital from Portugal focused on Early Stage IT through which he has invested in a number of companies including NDrive (Founder and CEO), NMusic (Founder and Executive Chairman). He has extensive executive and entrepreneurial experience including Novabase where he was Founder and member of the management team. The company listed on the NBA@euronext, and exited in 2006 with the company at revenues of 220M€.
In addition to his positions in NDrive and NMusic he forms part of the extended Board of Pathena Capital.
Education in Engineering with a BSc in Electro-technical, Electronics and IT Engineering from FEUP, Oporto University, 1992 and a MSc in Industrial Informatics, from FEUP, Oporto University, 1995.
Joaquín has spent 20 over years in the medical devices sector with extensive international experience throughout Europe and Latam. He has held senior executive positions with Gambro (nefrology/VP Spain and Protugal), Welch Allyn (diagnostic techniques …/ Senior Director EMEA & Latam based in Dublin), and Medtronic (Senior Director for all divisions Latam based in Miami; European Director of Gastroenterology and Urology based in Switzerland). Joaquin started his management career at Hewlett Packard in the medical products group.
Prior to joining the business world Joaquín practiced medicine as a cardiologist at various s public and private institutions, with a focus on non-invasive techniques and intensive care.
MBA from the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid, Spain. Degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Navarra with specialization in Cardiology.
